Summer in Lafayette, Colorado: A Local's Guide to 2026

I have lived in the Louisville/Lafayette area long enough to know that summer here is not just a season. It is a whole mood.

The light changes, the trails fill up, Public Road comes alive on Friday nights, and the whole community seems to exhale. Lafayette does summer in a way that feels genuinely its own: unhurried, locally rooted, and full of the kind of moments that make you glad you live here.

Here is what I am looking forward to this summer.

Art Night Out

This is the one. Every second Friday from May through September, from 5 to 9 p.m., South Public Road transforms into an outdoor festival with live music, street performers, an art market with 50 vendors, and food trucks. Free, walkable, and genuinely fun for all ages. Lafayette, CO

The 2026 lineup does not disappoint. July 10 brings the Cass Clayton Band, August 14 features Roka Hueka and Brittney Bridgewater, and the season closes September 11 with Ritmo Cascabel. Mile High on the Cheap

Bring a friend, bring the kids, and stay for the dancing.

Lafayette Peach Festival

The 27th Annual Lafayette Peach Festival is Saturday, August 8, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and it is one of my favorite days of the entire year. Over 30,000 pounds of Palisade peaches become pies, cobblers, jams, and more. Lafayette Chamber of CommerceUncover Colorado

Free to attend. Impossible not to love.

Lafayette Brew Fest

The Lafayette Brew Festival is June 6, 2026. No entrance fee, just pour tokens for as many craft beer tastings as you like, paired with live music and the easy energy of a summer Saturday. Lafayette's local brewing scene is the real deal, and this is the day it gets to show off. Festival Guides and Reviews

Waneka Lake

This is where I go to reset.

Waneka Lake Park is perfect for picnics, paddle boating, dog walks, bird watching, and free outdoor concerts at the adjacent pavilion. The trail loops the lake for 1.2 miles with fitness stations along a soft-surface, pet-friendly path. JenstuckeyhomeUncover Colorado

The Fourth of July fireworks here are a neighborhood tradition that never gets old.

The Library's Summer Programming

The Lafayette Public Library is a genuine community gem. The all-ages Summer Reading Program offers enriching, family-friendly events throughout the season, from cultural performances to storytime series to youth activities. In a world of overscheduled summers, it is grounding to have a library that still does this so well. Lafayette, CO

Art on the Street

The 2026 Art on the Street Walking Tour showcases a new collection through The Collective, Lafayette's Community Arts Center at 201 N. Public Road. Self-guided and free, it pairs perfectly with a stroll through Old Town and a stop at one of the many great local spots along the way. Lafayette, CO

Old Town Dining and Local Brews

Liquid Mechanics Brewing Company, Odd13 Brewing, and The Post Brewing Co. all offer warm and friendly atmospheres that feel quintessentially Lafayette. Old Town's walkable layout makes it easy to spend an entire evening without getting in the car. That is how summer evenings should go. Jenstuckeyhome

Why I Love This Town

People ask me all the time what makes Lafayette different. I work in real estate across Boulder County, and my honest answer is that it has held onto something a lot of Front Range communities have lost: a sense of itself.

The events feel community-built. The neighborhoods feel lived-in. And the land itself, from the lake to the open spaces to the trails threading through neighborhoods, reminds you that this place was worth sticking around for.

If you are curious about life in Lafayette, whether you are thinking about relocating, already here, or just planning a great summer Saturday, I would love to show you around.
