Read MoreSpring is a great time to begin planning your remodeling projects for 2022. By improving your existing home, you are creating higher home equity while also designing a space that fits your current needs.
Before you begin remodeling your kitchen, bathroom or finishing your basement, consider these guidelines.
Design for the Future: Trendy colors and decor will come and go but energy efficiency will never go out of style. Incorporating green elements into your remodeling project will bring long-term cost savings, higher resale value, and enhanced living comfort. Plus, you know that you're also doing your part to reduce your environmental impact.
Be Flexible: There will be supply-related delays in your remodeling project so expecting that up front will save you stress down the road. Have clear expectations of your project milestones and also create a backup plan in case of delays. Project disruptions can be inconvenient but having a contingency plan can make them more tolerable.
Hire Good Help: Hiring contractors with solid reputations and more than three years of experience is critical to overall success and peace of mind during your home remodeling project. Ensure that your contractor is part of the National Association of Remodeling Industry (NARI) and has positive references. I work with a lot of great contractors so reach out to me for recommendations!

Read MoreWhen I wrote the January newsletter, back in mid-December, I chose Harper Lake in Louisville to feature as my neighborhood of the month. I have always loved the little lake and surrounding area, frequently walking my dog Little Bear at Davidson Mesa. I wanted to share the beauty of this neighborhood for many reasons, including the friendly neighbors that always say hello when walking around Harper Lake. I never imagined that days later wildfires would engulf this pretty pocket of Louisville.
I am heartbroken by so much loss but I believe in the power of community, and I am witnessing it in so many beautiful ways. From an abundance of volunteers to an outpouring of donations, people are coming together to support those who have lost their homes. As Fred Rogers says, “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.” There are many helpers amongst us. If you are one of them, thank you. Louisville and Superior will continue to need you in the months ahead.
